bom in the catholic church
This was such a good week. I love being a missionary. We had cambios and Hermana Barker got transfered to Puerto Montt which is still close to us, so we'll still see her a lot! I'm staying here in Calbuco with Hermana Azcarate and I am so happy. She has become my best friend and we work so well together and I love laughing with her to the point we're on the floor. She has the same sense of humor as me and is teaching me so much spanish and I feel so grateful everyday.
• my comp and I killed it this week finding 11 new people to teach. Most of them are youth who somehow seemed to recognized us in the street and then asked us for our number. We've seen so many miracles like that this week and its been a humbling experience to be apart of it.
• one day we passed by our friend Silvia's catholic church and decided to go in and check it out. We found her and started talking and she ended up admitting that sometimes she feels like the catholic church has become her foundation in life and that she wont ever be able to change that. I told her that there are a lot of people who smoke and that becomes their foundation in life, but that doesnt mean it's good for them or that they should hold on to it. Instead of getting offended she literally asked us for a book of mormon, while we were sitting in her catholic church. I was in shock.
• a crazy guy was yelling in the street and throwing bottles right outside of our house so we had to turn off the lights and stay inside and it reminded me a lot of Osorno :)
• we visited our abuelita friend Maria Mancilla who just got a new pair of teeth and she couldn't stop smiling and it was so cute. Also our best friend Marilyn was non stop smiling yesterday at church because her inactive son came for the first time in 6 months!!
• I taught 10 little non member primary aged kids how to sing happy birthday in English and they were sooo cute! Later my comp and I taught them about faith and they all listened so intently. I love teaching little kids!!
One thing I learned this week is that being humble doesn't mean being self critical. Jesus is the perfect example of humility and not once did he tear himself down with his words or his thoughts. God wants us to recognize that we need Him in our lives, and He also wants us to be happy and confident in who we are and who we can become.
Love you all!
Hermana Stewart
