1st Dog Bite

Holaa todos!

This week started off with my first and hopefully last dog bite on the mission! It was super quick and random but I'm proud to say that I'm officially a missionary in Chile now. I am also so grateful I was wearing pants that day because usually I never wear them, definitely the miracle of the week! :)

A little later we travelled a ton and were able to have interviews with our mission president! Villarrica is about 3.5 hours from us so we ended up staying the night with the Hermanas on the way in Panguipulli, and then traveled up together. This was so much fun because they live pretty far from us and we usually don't get to see them that often. We made sushi that turned out pretty bad, they have these bread crumbs you put on the outside and then fry it, and that's definitely where we went wrong. But we're prepared for the next time!

Our branch had their conference this week and the day we got back to Paillaco we went to their "hat party" which was super random but so much fun. The activities for the branch are always simple but a lot of people come and support. I never know what to expect because the last activity in September there was a chicken in the church, and this time the 2 senior ladies were playing a game and ended up tackling each other to the ground, so it's always a party in Paillaco.

Lately I have been studying the bible a lot more than usual, and one story that has stuck out to me is when the apostles are in the boat and Jesus is sleeping. I love this story because I realized that Jesus does not need to sleep! I started thinking about that for a while and wondered why He would leave them on their own and not help right away when the storm got bad, but I think it's because He was waiting for them to turn to Him and act in faith. He never left them alone, and He was always with them, but He wanted them to exercise their agency and have faith. In our lives we don't physically have Jesus with us, but we have His spirit and we can receive the same help if we exercise our agency and act in faith.

Hope you are all doing good!

Love,
Hermana Stewart
