eating oysters
Hola todos! Cómo están?
I'm so excited to catch you up on this week. We had a mutli zone conference and I got to see all of my favorite people!! My old district from Paillaco was there except one guy who had finished his mission, but it was so fun to be back together for the most part. Also I got to see Hermana Stamper!!! You guys already know how much I love her. It was such a good day :)
We had lunch with the members one day and they let us try a little bit of their mariscos (seafood). They asked if anyone wanted to try oysters, and I've never had them before but I love trying new stuff, so I said yes and my heart was beating sooo fast because I was a little nervous but it wasn't that bad. Neither of my comps had tried them either but I talked them into it, then we learned that Hermana Robertson is actually allergic. She had no idea but it was a really small reaction so that was a miracle. I'll attach some pics so you can see what we ate.
In our zone conference, our mission president invited us to focus on strengthening our conversion to Jesus Christ and His gospel. Ever since, I've been thinking a lot about why he would give this invitation to missionaries who study and preach His gospel everyday. Who could be more converted?
Nephi's example of conversion to the Lord was strong because he was faithful and obedient, but also persistent in strengthening his conversion. After hearing Lehi's dream of the tree of life, Nephi wanted to know for himself, and was "caught up in the Spirit of the Lord." He said that he believed his fathers words, but desired to see what his father had seen and to know the interpretation thereof. I love that because after having one big spiritual experience, like being caught up in the Spirit of the Lord or like seeing an angel, Nephi is always trying to know more of the mysteries of God. He knew that he couldn't built his conversion on one big spiritual event, he knew he had to keep growing his understanding of God's plan and his relationship with Him.
I think it's easy for people to get caught up in the daily routine of reading the scriptures and praying that sometimes it's not strengthening our conversion as much as we would like. I love Nephi's example, that we can continue to be persistent and find the answers we need if we have the desire. Strengthening your conversion isn't easy, it requires a lot of effort and the desire to have a spiritual experience everyday. Pray for the desire to strengthen your conversion and He will help you!
For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.
