Makenna Speaks in Ute Creek Ward Before Leaving on Her Mission
We are grateful for this last busy, beautiful weekend we had to enjoy with family and friends!
My parents decided to come visit for Makenna’s speaking assignment on Sunday before she begins her mission June 27th. We enjoyed swimming at Sunset pool, fishing at Trout Haven where we caught 10 fish!?!?, cooking on the grill, and just nice quality family time together. Best of all was Sunday-
We found out Makenna would also be speaking with another young man from our ward - returning from the same country-Chile! So that was cool!
Makenna gave a beautiful talk. I was amazed at her spiritual maturity and love for our Savior, and most of all her sweet peaceful spirit. I love her smile- and her message of finding Joy in Christ shines through her brilliant testimony.
Makenna shared about the woman at the well. She pointed out what a great sister missionary this woman was, and how she joyfully couldn’t wait to tell others what she had learned from the Savior! She reminded us that the Savior’s joy is constant- and that though we all go through things, we can still feel joy by focusing our lives on the Savior. My favorite quote she shared was “Grow through what you go through.”
She shared an excerpt from this beautiful song: There is Peace in Christ! Made me want to listen to it again. So here it is. Mainly cause I want the reminder!

And I loved how she related it to the early Saints who were killed and forced out of their beautiful city in Nauvoo. How they still had hope through their Savior despite it all.
She taught- Instead of asking, “Why would God allow hard things to happen?” we should better ask “What can I learn from this and how can I grow?”
We did get a kick out of watching her eyes get bigger and more afraid the longer her speaking companion, Elder Robison bore his testimony in Spanish. It’s going to be a big opportunity for her to grow through what she goes through! Haha! But we know she will do it with joy as she focuses on the Savior.
She also felt so much support by so many who came or watched online. She especially felt SO loved by the Moores who took the time to fly out for this and support her! Wow!! And thanks to all who have sent on the sweetest words of love and encouragement!
